Norris “Tyrone” Darden, III was born, raised and educated in the heart of District 2 on San Antonio’s Eastside. An exceptional athlete throughout grade school, Tyrone garnered enough buzz nationally receiving dozens of football and track & field offers. He eventually accepted a full athletic scholarship to Texas State University at San Marcos, serving as Team Captain of the football team, and winning three Southland Conference Championships in track & field. Tyrone would receive his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and his Master’s degree in Special Education. After graduating, Tyrone immersed into education as a teacher/coach for S.J. Davis middle school and his Alma mater, Sam Houston High school (SAISD). After a brief stint at Gatesville High School, under Kyle Cooper, Tyrone returned home and pursued his child hood dream as a writer. Over a three year period Tyrone has self-published a book titled, “The Milk Carton Chronicles Volumes 1-5,” and produced several screen plays for Greater Joy Ministries including "The Woman at the Well, "Jerusalem Squares" and "A Greater Joy Christmas". To date, Tyrone is a proud husband, father, son, brother and friend. He has dedicated his adult life to helping people of all ages in the areas of education, athletics, and spiritual development. Tyrone is a member of Greater Joy church, where he serves as a Deacon under Senior Pastor Adam Zarb-Cousin. With a strong support base, Tyrone is dedicated to the communities that make up District 2, and has an indescribable love for the city of San Antonio! Tyrone desires to leave things “better” than the eyes can see, for those who will come after him. Tyrone truly believes in his ity and to him San Antonio is So Amazing.
